Triada Samaras

Bio: I am an artist, activist, and art educator from Brooklyn, NY. I work in a wide variety of visual arts media and poetry. As an inter/trans-disciplinary and socially engaged artist, my work often grapples with contentious environmental, geographic, economic, and social issues in both New York City and Athens. My projects have been featured at Brooklyn Historical Society, Macy Gallery, Columbia University, Brooklyn Stone House, Nancy Dryfoos Gallery, Kean University, Kentler International Drawing Space, Brooklyn, AthensArt Ukraine and Egypt and published at the Hellenic Chronicle, Interview Bulletin, Columbia University, to name a few. My current affiliations: Kean University Visual Arts Dept, Union, NJ; William Paterson University Education Dept. (Art Education) Wayne, NJ. My art and praxis and teaching/activist pedagogy have evolved synchronistically over my years of art making, art activism, and teaching. My recent degrees: Teachers College, Columbia University (MA Art/Art Education 2006); Goddard College (MFA/Interdisciplinary Art 2012).
